It's great to see you once again! The long awaited debut of "Xanadu" on Blu-Ray earlier this month - and the subsequent arrival of said release today at ELO Beatles Forever [ELOBF] - has reminded Yours Truly KJS of a minor controversy from back in good old 1980. I remember having the odd friendly argument with fans of Olivia Newton-John back in the day [and occasionally since] as to whether the ELO Side or the ONJ Side was the A side on the original gatefold LP release [UK: Jet/MCA #JETLX526].
For me, the 'A' side had to be the ELO Side and for certain others it was not. Later CD re-issues, however, opted to list the ONJ tracks as tracks 1-5 and the ELO songs as tracks 6-10 but the original vinyl release didn't really define either, even the run-out matrix didn't settle the 'argument'.

XANADU SET FOR SPRING 2016 BLU-RAY RELEASE

In any case, the "Xanadu" OST was significantly more successful than the film, reaching #2 in the Official UK Album Top 75 with a seventeen [17] week chart run. "Xanadu" is a recording that has always divided the ELO fan base but the facts are that it provided ELO with their only #1 UK single and three other hit singles plus the Jeff Lynne's ELO live anthem "All Over The World".

CHARTWATCH: AITU REMAINS OUTSIDE TOP 100

Hello ... Hello ... my old friends ... It's great to see you once again! The latest Official UK Albums Chart Top 100 released earlier today sees "Alone In The Universe" by Jeff Lynne's ELO still outside the Top 100. A swift chart return is expected for AITU when EJLO commence their long awaited 2016 live dates supported by The Feeling in Liverpool on Tuesday 5th April.

The Beatles' best-selling "1" compilation has returned to the Top 100 at #60 following the sad passing of Sir George Martin. Meanwhile, ELO's platinum certified 2005 "All Over The World" career overview is back up thirteen [13] places from #86 to #73 and Bryan Adams' latest Jeff Lynne produced offering "Get Up" has slipped back thirty [30] places from #44 to #74.

ELO Beatles Forever [ELOBF] recommends "Alone In The Universe" by Jeff Lynne's ELO and "Get Up" by Bryan Adams to those enlightened folks who enjoy the music of ELORoy WoodThe MoveThe Idle Race, 'Brum Beat'The Beatles and related artistes.

CAUGHT LIVE [2]: THE TREMBLING WILBURYS

Hello ... Hello ... my old friends ... It's great to see you once again! The return of The Trembling Wilburys to The RoadHouse in Birmingham on Friday 4th March was a date too good to miss for Yours Truly KJS in what, quite amazingly, was the first gig of the year for ELO Beatles Forever [ELOBF], after a few false starts.

The thirty [30] mile trip to Stirchley was more than well worth it was the London based septet delivered another impressive set of classics by Roy Orbison, George Harrison, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Jeff Lynne [ELO] and, of course, The Traveling Wilburys that comprised thirty [30] songs lasting well over two [2] hours. The Trembling Wilburys are more than a tribute band, they are a unit and they truly bring the music of the Wilburys alive in a fashion that brings a smile to the face and joy to the ears. The first half of their set was dominated by the music of The Big O showcased by the amazing vocal prowess of Dave Collison. He was ably assisted by Glen Knowler, who is not only the ultimate George lookalike but also his audio doppelganger, and Andy McNish - a veritable Bob Dylan and TP in one - with Marko Laver doubling up as Jeff Lynne.

The second set was mostly a wonderful trawl through the music of the beloved Traveling Wilburys that had those in attendance literally rockin' 'n' reelin' to the sounds of the world's greatest ever super group. Without doubt, a major part of what The Trembling Wilburys do is underpinned by the non-vocal contributions of top notch [if not legendary guitarist] Dzal Martin whose solo work during "When My Guitar Gently Weeps" [and not a few others] was breathtaking, Howard Robin's keyboard wizardry and, last but not least, the superb percussion of founder Dave Stark who, despite a heavy cold, was the backbone of another thoroughly enjoyable concert. So, if you love The Traveling Wilburys then you are sure to enjoy The Trembling Wilburys. Go see 'em folks!

The Trembling Wilburys set list [30 songs]: "Only The Lonely" ~ "Claudette" ~ "Working For The Man" ~ "Running Scared" ~ "In Dreams" ~ "It's Over" ~ "Ooby Dooby" ~ "Pretty Woman" ~ "If I Needed Someone" ~ "Here Comes The Sun" ~ "If Not For You" ~ "Something" ~ "Hold On Tight" ~ "I Won't Back Down" ~ "You Got It" ~ "Taxman" ~ "[All I Can Do Is] Dream You" ~ "She's My Baby" ~ "Dirty World" ~ "Heading For The Light" ~ "Last Night" ~ "Rattled" ~ "Tweeter And The Monkey Man" ~ "Not Alone Anymore" ~ "Wilbury Twist" ~ "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" ~ "End Of The Line" ~ "Handle With Care" ~ "Runaway" ~ "Roll Over Beethoven"
The Trembling Wilburys are: Dave Stark [Founder/drums], Glen Knowler [Vocals/guitar], Dave Collison [Vocals/guitar], Dzal Martin [Lead guitar], Marko Laver [Vocals/bass], Andy McNish [Vocals/guitar/harmonica] and Howard Robin [Keyboards]

CHARTWATCH: AITU EXITS UK TOP 100

Hello ... Hello ... my old friends ... It's great to see you once again! The latest Official UK Albums Chart Top 100 announced yesterday saw "Alone In The Universe" by Jeff Lynne's ELO leave the Top 100 - for the "Time" being at least - after fifteen [15] weeks in the chart. We should expect a swift chart return for AITU with those UK, Irish and EU dates just a month or so away. Interestingly, having both entered the chart at #4, both 1983's "Secret Messages" and 2015's "Alone In The Universe" currently share the same length chart runs too [at the time of writing] thus:
The Beatles' best-selling "1" compilation has also departed the Top 100 with ELO's platinum certified 2005 "All Over The World" greatest hits compilation dipping twenty four [24] places from #62 to #86. Bryan Adams' successful appearance on ITV last weekend and new single "Do What You Gotta Do" helped the Canadian rocker to re-enter the chart at #44 with "Get Up" - produced, of course, by Jeff Lynne.

Hello ... Hello ... my old friends ... It's great to see you once again! Acclaimed quintet The Feeling announced this morning via the ever popular Chris Evans Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2 that they will be supporting Jeff Lynne's ELO for their forthcoming "Alone In The Universe" UK and European tour dates during April and May. The Feeling are a band with their own rich pedigree of critical and chart success, sporting no less than four Top 10 singles and four Top 40 albums to date [see below] with their self-titled fifth album "The Feeling" - literally a live recording - also released today [Friday 4th March].
The Feeling hope to further their impressive chart stats [r] with their new live album [l] released today ...
Should fans of ELO/Jeff Lynne wish to to catch the band in advance of the EJLO tour, The Feeling are embarking on a short six [6] date tour of their own to promote their new album during March - including a date at the O2 Academy 2 in Birmingham on Friday 11th March. You'd better be quick though as two dates are already sold out and, with interest in the band now elevated, the remaining dates in Glasgow, Newcastle, Birmingham and London may quickly follow suit.
