CAUGHT LIVE: THE TRAVELING PILBURYS

Hello ... Hello ... my old friends ... It's great to see you once again! Six [6] months agoELO Beatles Forever [ELOBF] were most pleased to introduce you to The Traveling Pilburys. Since then, it has been on the ELOBF radar to pay a visit to one of their highly rated live performances. And so it was last night that yours truly travelled through a hefty thunderstorm to Lichfield in Staffordshire to see the band in person at the wonderful and hospitable Feathers Inn.

One thing is for certain, The Traveling Pilburys are not a bona fide Traveling Wilburys tribute band. But they are a very accomplished and talented group of musicians who not only cover the Wilburys but also The Beatles [naturally] and a wide ranging plethora of classic songs by other artistes including Gary MooreJoe CockerT.RexThe HolliesChris Farlowe and The Spencer Davis Group amongst not a few others!
The Traveling Pilburys [L-R]: John Wilson; Graham Savage; John Kerton; Steff Griffin and Conrad Carpenter ...
With the charismatic vocals of band leader John Kerton - former band mate in The Andicaps with Jeff Lynne from as far back as 1964 - the band produced a rip-roaring set of songs which included sublime renditions of "Handle With Care", "Roll Over Beethoven", "Nowhere Man" and "End Of The Line" as well as their crowd pleasing live interpretations of the likes of "Born To Be Wild", "Out Of Time", "Gimme Some Lovin'", "Handbags And Gladrags", "Brown Eyed Girl", "Wild World" and "I Love To Boogie" - again amongst not a few others! Of special mention also must be the amazing guitar craft last night of Conrad Carpenter [also a founding member of the highly rated Eagles tribute act Talon], particularly on "Still Got The Blues".
