CAUGHT LIVE [3]: ELECTRIC LIVE ORCHESTRA

Hello ... Hello ... my old friends ... It's great to see you once again! Yours Truly KJS journeyed over to a new local venue named The Range near Essington in Staffordshire last Saturday night [25th June] with Christian "The Fall" Evans to join a packed crowd of 200 folks and witness the latest offering by The Electric Live Orchestra. And the trip was well worth it as this loud, bold and talented band literally rocked for two [2] hours through the ELO back catalogue.

Now a five [5] piece that features keyboardist Bernie Toner, fellow members Dave BatesGary MitchellJohnny Will and Mel Thompson produced a powerful set that included a 'rocked up' version of "Xanadu" and a remarkable rendition of that famous introductory aria in "Rockaria!" by John! Add to that a mid-interval Michael Buble cameo by new artiste Adam Dean and you could say that we had a very musically varied night!

E Live O performed all the hits from "10538 Overture" all the way through the ELO & Jeff Lynne songbook. Highlights for me were [as ever]: "Ma Ma Ma Belle""Do Ya""Can't Get It Out Of My Head""The Diary Of Horace Wimp""Mr. Blue Sky" and "Twilight". High quality and industrious gigs like this keep the ELO sound 'live' and further reinforce my often repeated view that there is plenty of room for more than one ELO tribute act in the UK [and Europe] who explore the different musical styles found in the ELO universe.

I was also impressed by The Range venue itself; its facilities as well as the professionalism and courtesy of the staff. It was a loud gig but I had no complaints, even though my ears were still ringing two [2] days later! The Electric Live Orchestra are well worth checking out, should they play a gig near you. ELOBF also suggests that you pay The Range a visit if you like good quality tribute acts in an intimate setting in the West Midlands of England.

ELO Beatles Forever [ELOBF] recommends The Electric Live Orchestra to those enlightened folks who enjoy the music of ELO & Jeff LynneRoy WoodThe MoveThe Idle Race'Brum Beat'The Beatles and related artistes.

Until next "Time" in the ELO [and related] universe ... KJS ... 28-June-2011
