JEFF LYNNE NEWS [2]

Hello ... Hello ... my old friends ... It's great to see you once again! There appears to be mounting excitement surrounding the [hopefully] impending release of Jeff Lynne's second solo album [or third if you count 2001's "Zoom" as a solo LP] following 1990's "Armchair Theatre" [source: www.classicrockforums.com/forum/f53/new-jeff-lynne-solo-album-ready-roll-4974] thus:

"I heard this from a person who was called in to work on the cover. The person said that an official announcement is likely coming pretty soon. Jeff is apparently at the point of picking an image for the album cover. The person doesn't know exactly what's planned, but things seem to be sort of on a fast-track now. His guess is an official announcement is coming fairly soon. Apparently other stuff [ELO? Idle Race? Move?] is also being worked on. And for the record, he said this is not a tease or wishful thinking. It's real! I have read information elsewhere giving sly hints about this, but the release date was never mentioned so I was skeptical. But this sounds like the real deal. Is anyone as excited as I am? The latest rumors are that the word "satellite" is in the album title and that it could be released in May, although I doubt it because the marketing campaign has not yet begun.

I hope I put this in the right place, no one seems to be interested. Anyway ... here is the news, in case you thought it was just another rumour. "From what I understand, the music is done. [Although Jeff loves to mess around in the studio until he thinks it's just right.] Now it's down to putting it all together - formats, cover art , promotional material, etc." Now how long does that take? I hope they get the marketing right this time."

Until next "Time" in the ELO [and related] Universe ... KJS ... 23-Feb-2010

  1. Ok....wow. That's amazing! It's about time :) I hope he finally starts that "elo.biz" up, and release Secret Messages: deluxe two-disc edition, and remaster Armchair theatre, and Zoom, and, and, and EVERYTHING! Haha, gettin' a little carried away :P But the point is, this is exciting news :) I can definitely wait until May or June! Let's just hope he markets this one better...

  2. I've heard that this is a double album, one disc of new material and a second disc of re-recorded ELO classics.

  3. Well, that would be a good way to market the album. However, I'm not believing anything until an official announcement is made--and might I add: an announcement better than "later this year..."

  4. Can not wait. Must have Jeff's music. May go insane very soon. Must hear the tunes. What a talented man. He could fart into a microphone and I'd still buy and listen to it.

  5. Jeff is one of the very best. I can't wait for the new album! I hope he tours again. The Zoom show was excellent. It didn't make any sense to me why they pulled the tour. Jeff and ELO have a huge and loyal fan base.

  6. Agreed. Although I'm not a violent person, JL could record himself having violent diaherria in the loo and I'd fight my way to the front of the line to buy it.

  7. And still we wait. Checking the web. Waiting for the news. JL music is what real music is! The fans know what I mean.

  10. The man is a genious and for a long time now I have classed ELO as one of my favourite bands, if not the favourite band. It was Out of the Blue that grabbed me by the throat when I was 12 and I still love it all now.

  11. For goodness sake hurry up Jeff and put me out my misery. I am desperate to get hold of your new material. Shift your gifted butt mate and release it. Its been too long since you released your own stuff.

  12. For over thirty years, Jeff Lynne has been my hero of heroes. I always eagerly await anything he's involved in. The man is a melody king who is a master at hooks and catchy tunes. What I would give to break bread with him just once.

  13. Let's hope that "All over the World" has another Lift Me Up from being on Adam Sandler's new movie.

  14. All we want is an ELO concert with Jeff at the front. Sadly probably could not be as technically good as the orchestra are....

  16. Holy crap!!! How exciting is this eh?!! Maybe Craig Fruin will take his finger out and do his job! You know there is so much he could do! Like that "you and me" track he done with Woody in the eighties, or that other track he wrote for Helen Reddy in the seventies that he never released himself? Then again was'nt secret messages meant to be released as a double vinyl? I bet there is so much stuff locked away! Imagine something packaged like the last Neil Young Anthology on Blue Ray! I wait with bated breath my fellow E.L.Oers! Ciao!

  26. Hi Jeff has been in LA for the past 18 mths but has not been in to book a stint in any of the studios to record any songs. So all of this must be just rumours. Sorry guys

  27. It's real.

Jeff doesn't have to go into a studio because he virtually lives in his own studio.

    2011 will be it.

  31. yaddah yaddah yaddah...release this relaease that when what and why....is there no one else just bored of the whole thing with jeff lynne. sorry...but...look..im an elo fan, have been for years....but lets just stop being so far up his wizwab...all this 'getting it right' stuff is thinner than thin...and thinner than that...if he can produce another album for another artist in a few months why are we hanging on for his album. endlessly. if he isnt putting the work in on other peoples albums, which is what he appears to be saying by not taking the apparently appropriate time, he is letting them down, including good friends, harrison, starr, mccartney, petty, orbison et al. lynnes own album doesnt need all this time to tweak the last tweak that was tweaked months back....either relaes the bloody thing or actually say its on a shelf never to see the light of day...its boring quite honestly...
